1951 Parkhurst Hockey is the first major sports and trading card set. This set has 105 cards with each team having its own subset. There were only 6 teams in the NHL in this year, the teams include: Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, and Chicago Blackhawks. Parkhurst, a Canadian brand, was the first company to issue sports cards after the second world war. As this is the first hockey card set since the 1940 V301-2 O-Pee-Chee set, pretty well every card in the set is considered a rookie card. Although almost every card is considered a rookie, this is the infamous year of Gordie Howe and the Rocket! Notable rookies include: Terry Sawchuck, Bernie "Boom Boom" Geoffrion, Alex Delvecchio, Doug Harvey, Maurice "Rocket" Richard, Red Kelly, Ted Lindsay, Gerry McNeil, and Gordie Howe. The only player that is not considered a rookie is Walter "Turk" Broda.

This set of cards is physically smaller than the card standard that has been put in place now. The card is made out of heavy card stock and is the colour of cardboard. The front of the card has a player photo, either in action or posed, the player name, player position, team name, the player's game stats, the player's vital stats, and card number with the phrase "in the 'PARKIE' 1951-52 Hockey Series". The back of the card is completely blank.

1978 Topps Grease trading cards were made up of 154 Cards. There were 132 regular trading cards and 22 stickers. There were 66 cards and 11 stickers in Series 1 and 66 cards and 11 stickers in Series 2. The front of the cards were pink bordered for series 1 and green bordered for series 2. Both series have a Grease Logo in the bottom left of the cards.The stickers are designed to look like a film strip. The series 1 are blue bordered and series 2 are yellow bordered. The grease logo on the stickers are located in the bottom center. The backs of the cards are a mix of movie facts and puzzle pieces that make one big picture.

Fun Fact: O-Pee-Chee actually made an exact same set and it's much rarer than the Topps sets!
